First Pres has been a community gathering place for over one hundred years. We have had a long tradition of presenting concerts for the community. In our renovated sanctuary we have the flexibility to present music of various kinds in a beautiful building with a warm acoustic. Our goal is to provide a concert series of diverse music at a low cost for Salt Lake City in the heart of the Avenues, and we want you to join us! |

November 16, 2008Matthew 25:14-30; I Thessalonians 5:1-11When my kids were little, like any responsible, patriotic, American parents, we’d take them quite often to McDonald’s. Trying to be good and stay on my low cholesterol/avoid-the-upset-stomach diet, I’d order a garden salad. The kids, they’d have the famous happy meal. |

Have you ever wondered what God had in store for you? What it means to be called by God? How can you best show others your love for God? On Thursday, November 6 and 13, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Pastor James will be leading a class in the church parlor for anyone who has wrestled with these questions. We will be looking at how God has called each of us uniquely and investigate how we can link our gifts and passions to that call. Child care will be offered upon early request. Please contact the church office at 363-3889 of Pastor James for more information. |

On Sunday mornings November 2, 9 & 16 at 9:30 AM, June Evans will be leading a three-week study of the bestselling book 'The Shack' by William Paul Young. Participants need to have read the book before attending the class. "When the imagination of a writer and the passion of a theologian cross-fertilize, the result is a novel on the order of 'The Shack.' This book has the potential to do for our generation what John Bunyan's 'Pilgrim Progress' did for his. It's that good!" --Eugene Peterson, Professor Emeritus of Spiritual Theology, Regent College, Vancouver, B.C. |
