In Romans 8, Paul says that he is “convinced that nothing shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” In I Corinthians 13, he says that three things are lasting: faith, hope, and love, and that “the greatest of these is love.”  But is that true?

They all had different yet important roles to play in the divine drama of Jesus, the Son of the Most High, the Son of God coming into this world.

It’s fascinating to look through and read the first lines of good books. With the larger vision of storyline to come, the author carefully chooses those first few words. The most quoted is Dickens: “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times” (A Tale of Two Cities). Hemingway begins this way: “He was an old man who fished alone” (The Old Man and the Sea).
