Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob.  He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.

Isaiah 2:3

Let the Lord speak this invitation to your heart. “Come up to the mountain of the Lord; come to the house of God.” Why? That you may learn His ways and learn how to walk in His paths.

What are his ways…His paths?

More than any of God’s attributes, holiness is the one that truly sets Him apart from all else. In fact holy means ‘set apart’ or ‘utterly different’. To know God’s ways, we can look at Christ’s ways and how He lived. Walking in His paths is not religion, nor is it moral goodness. It’s not speaking in biblical terms or going to church every Sunday. It is to leave the normal, the natural, the comfortable, to come to the mountain. It is to give Him your ways, your paths, your life, and to learn from the Holy One.

His ways and His paths are not our ways. We are proud, he is humble, we are self focused, He is fully surrendered to the Father’s will. We are often afraid of losing our comfort or security, our ‘little kingdoms’. The Lord’s way is the way of a servant who willingly gives his life in every way to us. This is the way of holiness, the path less trodden. This is the call of the disciple.

Jesus said “If you want to come after me you must die to yourself daily, take up your cross and follow me” Will you take that step of faith? Will you accept the invitation? Come…
