I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

Revelation 22:13

What are we reminded of during this Christmas season when we see the symbols or words of the Greek letters, Alpha and Omega?  God has told us that He is the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last.  He tells us that in several places in the Bible, and when he uses that description in the 22nd chapter of Revelation, through the words of Jesus, he is giving us HOPE for the time to come.

God is the beginning and the end just as Alpha and Omega are the beginning and end of the Greek alphabet, telling us of His timelessness and eternal existence.  There is no one before God and there will be no one after.

Just think of all the gifts God has given us in his creation!  Can we ever give enough thanks in return?  The greatest gift He has given us is Himself in the person of Jesus, our Savior.  So as you read about the birth of Jesus this Christmas season in the gospels of Matthew or Luke, also take time to look in the book of Revelation, chapter 22 the 13th verse.

It speaks to us of HOPE as well as the Alpha and Omega.  When you see the word HOPE on your Christmas cards, or sing the word HOPE in Christmas carols, remember that Jesus gave us HOPE when He arrived to be with us, and you can read all about it in your Bible.

Wishing you a HOPE-filled and Merry Christmas!
