Joseph Accepts Jesus as His Son

This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins . . ."

Matthew 1:18-24

Mary knew from the very beginning that her pregnancy was a miracle. However, I sometimes wonder if Joseph ever questioned the decision he made or questioned the dream he had. Joseph’s faith is amazing; he chose to trust a woman who, for all he knew, may have done an unspeakable act. Joseph chose to be father to a child that was not his own.  Can we trust God like Joseph in our own lives?

  • Pray for the children of Salt Lake City:
We can pray that children in our communities will hear the gospel and encounter Christ early in life. That teachers, churches, and community members can do their part to help heal those kids who have been mistreated or neglected by their parents. We can pray for family stability for whole families and that children in broken families can experience “wholeness” through God’s family. We can pray for excellence in our education system, safety for our kids from violence, and many opportunities for laughter and joy in children’s lives.
The cost: an open heart & prayer.
