Who are we? We are a wide range of people, of all ages, who have come to Salt Lake City from all over the USA and the world. Whoever you are you will be assured a warm welcome.
What time do I arrive? If this is your first visit, it is probably best to arrive 15 minutes before the service starts. We have permission from several near-by businesses to use their parking lots. Call the church office at 363-3889 for specific information or check this Website.
What do I wear? Wear whatever makes you comfortable whether it is a business suit, jeans or a dress. We accept people as they are.
What should I expect? You should expect a warm greeting as you enter the church. You may sit wherever you wish within the sanctuary. You will be given a Sunday bulletin, which describes the order of worship. There are bibles and hymnals in each pew. There are times when we stand and times when we sit. All this is marked in the bulletin. About mid-service we pass the Friendship Pad and we ask that you record your name and address and other information if you so choose. This helps our members learn the names of those sitting in the pew with them. After the service we have light refreshments in the Fellowship Hall directly behind the choir area. Just walk through any of the doors on that wall and you will get there. This is a good place to have conversations with our members and our ministers. We singWe have a great choir and band, and a great organ, so periodically during the service the congregation sings along with the choir. The hymns sung during the service can be found in the hymnal books in your pews. You may sing if you want, or just listen.
We remember the Lord’s SupperUsually on the first Sunday of each month, we celebrate the Lord’s Supper. Although it is open to all believers, please do not feel that you must participate in this. The elements are served to everyone in the pews and you can just pass them on to the person sitting next to you without feeling uncomfortable. If you wish to participate, it is our custom that each person holds the element until all have been served and then we partake together. We prayThere are several times of prayer throughout the service, sometimes given by the minister alone, sometimes responsively with the congregation. The text for the sermon scripture, and the responsive reading can be found in the bulletin, if you wish to join.
We contribute We take up a collection for the work of the church here in Salt Lake City, but we do not expect our visitors to contribute. You should not contribute to our work until such time as you feel that you can do so in good conscience.
What do the Children do?We have nurseries for infants up to 3 years of age at both services. Any usher can give you directions. At the 11:00 a.m. service, there is a nursery for infants up to age 3 and Children's classes offered for ages 3 through 6th grade. Because we want our children to be a part of the main service, our members usually bring their children, age 3 and older, to the worship service to participate in the Children's Sermon. When called, the children proceed to the front of the church and surround the pastor. This is their special time to interact with the pastor and get the children's version of the sermon. Then leaders take them off to the classrom areas and you can pick them up at that location after the service. As a visitor, please feel free to accompany you child to the front of the church or to the dlassroom area if that would make your child feel more comfortable. All children are picked up from the classroom area after worship. Ushers can direct you to the area.
Is it only on Sundays? There are many opportunities throughout the week to participate in learning more about Christ or in working on one of our community outreach projects. Several items on this Website address those opportunities for connections. To get acquainted with the members and leadership of this church, we urge you to give it a try.
